Surf Spots Guide:

The wind comes brushing through the hair, the surfs are up and you are at the verge of the never-ending expense of the pacific. The great American dream is incomplete probably without the great exploits of the sea. The sea never needs the coast guard to be glorified in the USA; it is in fact the integral part of people’s lives in almost half of Americas. Now where in America can find that definitive beach, is an odd question to ask, because hardly can there be only one answer to this. From the east to the west coast the sea god has bestowed North America with probably the best beach line in the world. The extended beaches in the island countries around the American continent are also perfect places to get the tan and the surf.

Hawaii is one of the most traveled beach destination of the world. It attracts tourists due to its never ending coastlines and the secret beaches, which are so exotic that it can be called the heaven on earth. The expanse of the Ho'okipa Beach is approximately 8.4 square miles! Now that is huge!! Americans and people from around the globe visit Hawaii and bask in the golden sands of this beach. The augmented facilities on such beach resorts make it a traveler’s paradise.

The beaches are filled with activities and adventure sports. Surfing has found a new definition here in Hawaii. The surfers hit the waves early in the morning and are welcomes by the froth of the virgin seas. They take the surfers up and down and just jostle them in their vast embrace. It’s no wonder that sipping in the summer sun is one of the most pleasurable pass times. The experience at the American beaches is so fulfilling that many have made this their philosophy.

Malibu finds its name among the top beaches of America. The beach offers vivid activities ranging from surfing, parasailing and gliding. Having all these present at the same spot has made beaches the choicest destination for the holiday goers. Also the beaches of America are host to the best surfing competitions of the world. The Aloha Classic is held every year to choose the ablest rider of the American waves. The competitions are covered by almost all sports media and this has boosted the popularity of the beaches around the globe. But the American water lines are the best in many ways.

There are many adventure opportunities these beaches have to give. But the sea is not an easy customer to trade with. The waves can at times be too dangerous and too big. The surfers find it very difficult and sometimes fatal to venture into rough seas. The US cost guards as well as the local life guards can be seen posted at ever beach. This gives the tourists and the people a carefree atmosphere to surf and enjoy the beauty of the sea. Experiences like tsunami may have reduced the number of sea going people but this has in no way reduced enthusiasm that drives America. sea is still the favorite toy to play with.

Surfing in Hawaii:

Because of the swells that roll in from the Pacific Ocean, Hawaii has some great surfing spots. These spots are scattered across hundreds of beaches all over the state of Hawaii. You could literally spend a year surfing these beaches and never have to surf the same spot twice.

The biggest waves in Hawaii are located on the North Shore of the islands. Waves during the winter are typically bigger than the waves during the rest of the year. The island of Oahu is home to some of the world's largest waves. The north shore of Ohau attracts some of the best surfers in the world and hosts big surfing competitions. Waimea Bay Beach Park draws huge crowds of people there to watch the big wave riders. It's pretty typical to drive down the main highway and see several photographers just waiting to capture the big one.

These waters have swells that reach to be over thirty feet. Winter winds prevent this from being a swimming beach during these months. The waves pound the beach with a force so hard that it can be heard for miles. The summer months, however, bring a totally different Waimea. The water is usually calm enough for swimmers June through September. Sunset Beach is also another popular winter surfing destination for the same reasons as above... big waves. Lastly, don't forget about the world famous Banzai Pipeline located at Ehukai Beach. The pipeline attracts world famous surfers to these incredible long tube waves. Be careful, here the water is extremely shallow and these great waves break over top of a coral reef. This can make for treacherous wipeouts. This is not the place for beginners.

Wakiki beach is also another world famous surfing destination, but for much different reasons. Wakiki has long predictable waves that are not nearly as tall or as threatening as their northern counterparts. In fact, Wakiki is a great place for beginner surfers. You can walk up the beach and find tons of different places to take a lesson.

Honolua Bay on Maui is also a popular surfing spot for the experienced surfer. There are lots of great beaches as well as surfing spots in Maui. Lahaina is a great spot for beginners and there are a couple of different surfing schools located here. Because of the strong winds on Maui, it is also a popular destination for wind surfing and kite surfing. Maui even has its very own kite beach. On any given day you can drive by a see the shoreline full of kite boarders, some of whom you'd probably recognize from the magazines.

Hanalei Bay located on the North shore of Kauai also has some great waves. The bay itself is crescent shaped and the waves here are also going to be the biggest during the winter months. The bay makes for some great snorkeling during the summer months.

There are also some great spots to surf and the islands of Hawaii as well as Molokai, they are just not as famous of some of these others. Whatever island you pick you can't go wrong in Hawaii.

Surfing in Barbados:

Barbados Surfing conditions are ideal for any level of surfer. Barbados is almost guaranteed to have surf somewhere on any given day of the year. Coral reefs practically encircle Barbados' coastline giving the island the Caribbean's most consistent surf conditions with swells all year round. You can find point breaks and reef breaks on the island, rights and lefts. To cap it all off you can travel to anywhere on the island in 45 minutes or less.

Whether you are a beginner or advanced surfer there is something here for you, also available are surf lessons and surf tours. Even the most advanced surfer know that there is nothing like local knowledge of a break. Zed is the man to talk considered by many to be one of the top and most knowledgeable surfers on the island he can organize a surf tour for you to suit your skill level.

The premier Surf Spot in the island is the Soup Bowl, which is like a magnet, if there is swell out there the Soup Bowl will catch it. The east coast boasts the most powerful and biggest waves. Sitting on the eastern coast of the island this is where the Atlantic unloads it’s power. With an offshore wind this is the spot every surfer dreams of riding. Careful this is an advanced spot and should not be taken lightly.
The north and west coasts of Barbados have some great spots as well, like Mullins, Sandy Lane, Batts Rock and Tropicana to name a few, but these only go off with a north swell.

The warm waters of the Caribbean and laid back lifestyle of the people coupled with the stunning tropical scenery make this a surf destination well worth your time. Beware many who make the trip return again and again and again……..
While Barbados has swell all year the best time for solid ground swell is from October to March when waves can range anywhere from 2 to 12 ft in the north and east of the island and 2 to 8 ft for other breaks.

This is also the time for the West to cash in on north swells. From April to September the surf is between 2 to 6ft, coupled with lighter winds, especially in the summer this can make for near perfect glassy conditions - ideal for a great surfing vacation.
